Go beyond listening. Surface Music Kit gives you the tools to remix music in an entirely new way. Just click the Music Cover into your Surface*, install the app, and start creating music in your style. Choose the parts of a song (stems) you like, from popular and emerging talent, to your own imported samples and sounds. Automatic key and rhythm matching means you don’t need to be a pro to sound like one. Make remixes that you’ll be proud to share.
You need a limited edition Music Cover to register your app. To find out how to get one, check out the Surface Remix Project at http://surfaceremixproject.com.
*Music Cover is compatible with Surface 2, Surface Pro, and Surface Pro 2.
Saving mute/solo – When you mute or solo a track in song view or pattern view, those settings will be saved as part of the project—and you’ll hear them in your exported MP3 mixdowns too.
Off switch for quantization – An advanced feature for use on new recordings, the Snap Notes switch in song properties lets you turn off note quantization, or time alignment for new notes recorded. Quantization remains on by default.
Panning – You can now “place” each track anywhere between the left/right speakers by assigning it a pan value (-100 to +100).
Song Info – Right from the Home screen, right-click a song to get author, label, and publishing info about the songs you’ve downloaded.
Assign to track – Now it’s faster and easier to assign sounds from the Sound Collection to tracks in Song View or Pattern Editor. In Sound Collection, select any sound, then also select the track you wish to assign it to, and hit the new “Assign to track” button in the App bar. You can still drag and drop if you want to.
