Howzzat Book tells you what others are thinking about a book with just a single click. It finds the reviews of a book from various sites to help you decide if the book is really worth your time.
The application shows you the aggregate of all the reviews obtained and draws a few observations making it easy for you to decide on the book. Each book review has a link that takes you to the website of the respective company where you can see more information pertaining to the book as well as the detailed user reviews for the same. Links for Amazon and Google Books let you purchase the book as well.
You can search by partial book title or an author name. You can also see Amazon's top sellers. To keep the application fast and fluid and to minimize the response time, only a subset of the search result is shown.
The search results, either based on title or author, are mostly from Amazon and Google Books, but the application tries to collect the reviews of the book from sites like Amazon, GoodReads, Google Books and LibraryThing based on availability of the reviews.
The lookup to these sites are done using a service exposed by the respective website / company. These services have a rate-limit of calls that can be made in a given period of time. There is a possibility that due to network or rate-limit issues, you might not get a response from all the sites mentioned above. In such cases, just give it another shot in a few minutes.
In this update, I have excluded the country Taiwan.
