Boiler Fuel Efficiency-UWP is for Windows 10 devices that helps to run a quick preliminary audit on any water tube industrial boiler. Users can select different types of fuels such as coal, oil and gases with specific compositions and heating values to evaluate efficiency and performance in boilers. The combustion model computes the efficiency and displays the heat balance sheet as well as flue gas analysis and stoichiometry of the combustion process. Thus it can be very helpful to all energy engineers and auditors in assessing the potential savings as well as to identify areas for improvement.
App uses a generic model of an industrial boiler that can be edited for more specific applications and data can be saved in a file.
There are seven side menu bar items for navigation and display. The screen shots displays generic example with results on heat balance sheet, exhaust gas analysis and stoichiometry. A brief description of the computation model used in this app is also provided in App notes for reference.
Fuels:
Coal, Natural gas, Methane, Ethane, Propane, Butane, Furnace Oil#1, Furnace Oil#2, Furnace Oil#3, Furnace Oil#4, Furnace Oil#5, Diesel (HSD), Kerosene, LSHS, LPG.
Boiler Specification and inputs:
Users can conveniently choose either SI or USCS unit standards for data input. The home screen covers the main boiler specification data and separate screens are provided to edit other Input such as airflow, type of fuel, composition and feed rates as shown in the screen shots. Other optional input such a stack flue gas temperature and CO percentages are displayed for editing using additional input button available on the home screen.
Result:
Upon editing a run button is displayed on the model instantly computes the total combustion heat input as well as efficiency and displays as shown in the screen shot. Heat balance sheet is displayed on a separate screen where the data can be saved in a file for monitoring and review.
Flue gas and Stoichiometric analysis are displayed upon choosing flue gas analysis from the menu bar. Thus the model is very interactive.
