A wrapper for the RRedline Windows API and the Speedy3D DOS API used by the 1990s Rendition Verité videocards, the world's first GPU. Allows Windows and DOS** apps designed for it to run on modern hardware*. Support for the CGL (Cr*ative Graphics Library) API is planned, but not guaranteed.
Functions as a 128 MB V2000 (4 MB V1000+*** under DOS) board and is compatible with all 13 RRedline (12 V2.0 && 1 V1.0) apps (10 require no additional open source legacy DirectDraw/Win 98 Memory manager shims. The ones that do, need the free products DxWnd (2.05.99) or dgvoodoo (not supplied)). Detailed instructions can be found here: https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=95721). Support for DOS apps is currently preliminary (alpha). Under DOS ICR2/C*RT2, Wh*pl*sh, vQu*ke 1, R*b*l Moon, N*scar 2, N*scar Racing 1999, and T*m* R*ider are supported (either fully or with minor glitches). Support for the rest and bug fixes will be added in a series of updates.
A launcher which can be configured to setup Win98/XP SP2 compatibility for supported apps is supplied as well as two custom builds of Dosbox (Dosbox-Rendition) and Dosbox-Staging( Dosbox-Staging-Rendition) for running DOS apps (also run from the launcher)(source available including for Speedy3D RReady).
No RRedline or DOS apps are supplied with this product. However the help file lists hyperlinks from which demos and game patches can be downloaded along with their MD5 checksums.
**Support for DOS Rendition apps (Speedy3D) is preliminary. Currently a few Speedy3D apps may require (%localappdata%\dosbox\) dosbox-rendition.config to be modified depending on system performance for application stability (when using DMA). Please see the help file (launcher help button ) for details.
*** As fast as a modern CPU/GPU can go with a V2000 internal resolution list.(optionally upscaled to native resolutions). DOS apps require a discrete GPU and a fast quad core.
* Some GPUs such as the Intel HD 4000 may have compatibility issues with some apps. Discrete GPUs should have no issues.
