Vera; or, The Nihilists, by Oscar Wilde is a play. It was Wilde's first play and written in 1880. It is a tragedy set in Russia and is loosely based on the story of Vera Zasulich. The plot was inspired by true events. In 1878, Vera Zasulich shot the St Petersburg Chief of Police, Trepov. It features Russian revolutionaries who seek to assassinate a reform-minded Emperor.
