BrainControl Touch AAC is an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) device designed for patients with speech and language impairments caused by pathologies such as, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, autism, Parkinson's disease, stroke and other neuromuscular or congenital impairments.
The BrainControl Touch AAC includes a sentence selector and can be used in the presence of a residual mobility, even minimal, of the hands. It includes three interaction functionalities:
• Touch Standard: the selection is performed, as usual, by a touch to a specific item.
• Touch Easy: it works in scanning mode, the selection is performed by a touch in any part of the screen when the desired choice is proposed.
• Touch Easy - Reverse mode: the system scan the available choices when the user put his hand on the screen, the selection is performed when he raises the hand.
Sentences are fully customizable by the user, including positioning, levels and cell content (image and text). Scanning speed and the time needed to make a selection can both be adjusted. The application includes audio feedback so it can also be used by people with visual impairment.
