Poe is a distraction free writing app for Windows 8. It uses a simple interface with several preset themes to allow the user to just get writing and not be distracted by an interface.

Themes - default is light text on a dark background. several more presets available, plus the ability to set custom colors / fonts.
WordCount Goal - set a word count goal and Poe will tell you when you get there
Timer - write for a proscribed number of minutes

Save files as txt - no holding data hostage - Poe saves files straight to your hard drive in an open format any app can read.
