Crossing the Alps is one of the ultimate great adventures left to mankind. Ten years ago, Austrian alpinist, base jumper and paraglider Hannes Arch turned it into one of the world's truly extreme sports challenges. He masterminded Red Bull X-Alps, arguably the toughest high-mountain contest. The challenge is to be the first to reach Monaco - over 1,000 km (over 621m) from Salzburg - by paraglider if wind and terrain permit, or persevering on foot by day and night. The physical stress is extreme, the weather unpredictable. Only a fraction of those starting out manage to reach the finish; all of them are utterly exhausted. The documentary shows highlights and breathtaking images from a decade of Red Bull X-Alps.
