A nesting doll of Carver-esque vignettes inspired by Freud's psychosexual stages and laced with pitch-black humour and disquieting drama is hypnotically unravelled by cult director Mickey Reece. The untimely death of a local car salesman destabilizes the lives of his mother, her corrupt lawyer, a self-obsessed academic, a recovering alcoholic and other souls in a chiaroscuro Mid-West city.
