Scientific technologies and techniques are starting to restore of the Everglades wetlands to nearly its pristine, natural state. Newly introduced and engineered plants are cleansing the water of fertilizer chemicals and pollutants before it is reintroduced back into the wetlands. Meanwhile, viewers see how tree islands, land that is only 10% of the total wetlands, are vital to preserving biodiversity and a healthy balance of land and water. Many tests have revealed the Everglades' effects can be felt far out into the ocean, emphasizing the importance of this project. The Everglades wetlands rebirth has just begun; only time will tell how complete it will be.
