Swiss pianist Antoine Rebstein has won several international piano competitions, and performed at many concert halls throughout Europe, including London’s Wigmore Hall, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and the Tonhalle in Zurich. After a severe recurring inflammation of his right hand, Rebstein started to focus on different piano repertoire: works for the left hand. In this program, Rebstein performs Dinu Lipatti’s Sonatina for the left hand, followed by Alexander Scriabin’s Prelude and Nocturne for the left hand, Op. 9. The program finishes with Leopold Godowsky’s Symphonic Metamorphoses of the Schatz-Walzer Themes from Johann Strauss Jr.’s “The Gypsy Baron”.
