This Buster Keaton classic has him as the suitor to a young girl who swears to her father that he will go the big city and make a success of himself; otherwise he'll return home to shoot himself. With the father taking him to his word, our hero heads to the city and ends up taking a variety of low-level jobs that he messes up, all the while he writes home to his girlfriend vaguely describing his positions that allows her to imagine he's a big success. After his latest failed job, he returns home in disgrace to keep his promise that ends up with humorous results.
