Myth of Father is a video documentary about acceptance. The director's father, Jodie, is a transsexual woman. When she came out to Paul, he begun a journey to discover who his father really is and to reconstruct their relationship. The news of his father's gender resulting in Paul rewinding, reviewing, and repositioning the puzzle pieces of the past to try to figure out who Jodie is, not only for himself, but for his family as well. The video compares Paul's relationship with his father to the relationship between Paul's father and her own father. Interviews with family members reveal stories about her youth: "He seemed to live the normal life. He was into cars, he was into rock bands, he went into the Army...[got] married...[had a] child..." But much of her life was kept a secret, as she explains, "No one knew who I was. I trashed relationships with everyone I knew, including my own son." Taking Jodie's coming out as an opportunity for the family to re-establish bonds that had been severed over the years, Paul's journey culminates in a family reunion, where many of the family members meet Jodie for the first time. Ultimately this documentary is an exploration of the struggle of family members reuniting while going through a change in their relationships.
