Dr Bonura earned her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Florida State University, with a research focus in Sport & Exercise Psychology, and graduate certificates in Program Evaluation and Educational Measurement and Statistics. Her doctoral dissertation, The Impact of Yoga on Psychological Health in Older Adults, won national awards from the American Psychological Association (Division 47) and the Association for Applied Sport Psychology. Dr Bonura has been practicing yoga for over twenty years and teaching yoga since 1997. She is a triple-certified yoga instructor, Registered with the Yoga Alliance, and a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists. As well, she is a Certified Personal Trainer (Aerobics and Fitness Association), a Certified Group Fitness Instructor (International Fitness Professionals Association), Certified Group Kickboxing Instructor (AFAA), Certified Tai Chi / Qi Gong Instructor (IFPA), Certified Senior Fitness Specialist (IFPA), Certified Weight Management Instructor (IFPA), Certified in Prenatal and Youth Fitness (AFAA), Certified Anger Resolution Therapist (CAR), and a Reiki Master in the Usui System. Dr Bonura has been published in local, national, and international magazines and journals in the topic areas of yoga, health, wellness, fitness, stress management, and performance enhancement. She served as Editor-in-Chief of the Yoga Alliance newsletter Yoga Matters from 2002 - 2004.
