An audio suite of hypnotic visuals evoking the intimacy and lunacy of urban life and love, Phil Wiesman composes a haunting piece of musique concrete using fragments of telephone messages, dial tones and the abrupt noise of a phone hanging up to explore his relationship with Ethna Duffy. She is heard confessing insanity and insisting they visit the beach in a one-sided conversation that Weisman presents to summarize several years of their relationship. Their private world within New York is revealed in soft hues and quick edits. Ethna's brief smiles are a light counterpoint to the chaotic rambling of her voice on his answering machine. - Stela Jelincic
