The Central Australian Railway, now called the Ghan, was constructed between Port Augusta and Alice Springs from 1877. This video traces the history of the construction and follows the route of the rail line, from a steam locomotive service using original rolling stock, our journey follows the railway through the Flinders Ranges to Marree to the Oodnadatta Track, Oodnadatta and Alice Springs.
