Police officer Dirk files an amnesty application for Alex Mpondo, a member of the South African parliament, who can't remember the torture he once endured as a political activist. South Africa-born lawyer Sarah returns home to represent Alex, as well as his friend Steve Sizela, who was arrested with him but disappeared.
