This philosopher became a legend yet in his lies. The rumors transformed him into a prophet, a swindler, sometimes into a hero of anecdotes, and a city mad man. He did not create any integral teachings, but his whole life was a sample of the ervice to philosophy. An ideal cynic, Diogenes, was nicknamed "heavenly dog".
