King Chi (Carter Wong), one of the Emperor's followers and soon to be son-in-law, overhears a conversation by the Emperor's right hand man, Pai Yeh Hu (Chen Sing). The topic of the conversation is that Pai Yeh Hu plans to kill the Emperor so he can be one himself. King Chi stops the assassination, but the cunning Pai Yeh Hu turns the tables and implicates King Chi as the assassinator. King Chi, failing to prove himself innocent of the assassination attempt, flees the palace and goes into hiding for ten long years. In hiding, King Chi, practices gung fu with an eye towards one thing-killing that bastard, Pai Yeh Hu.
