The Berliner Philharmoniker, is an orchestra based in Berlin, Germany and is consistently ranked as one of the best orchestras in the world. In 1990 members of this great orchestra got together for some beautiful chamber music pieces. The first is Ludwig van Beethoven's Octet in E-flat major and secondly Antonin Dvorak's Serenade in D minor. Both compositions are composed for wind instruments, although Beethoven reworked and expanded his first string quartet for this composition. This concert is recorded in the famous Jaspis-Hall in the New Chambers - directly beside Sanssouci, the Summer Palace of Friedrich the Great.
