Olivier Manoury, born in Tulle (France), started his career as a maker of musical instruments. His love for musical instruments grows even larger when he discovers the bandoneon. Manoury masters the instrument, both as a musician and as a maker. Manoury, who refers to Astor Piazzolla and Miles Davis as his main sources of inspiration, starts to focus more and more on playing the instrument; and from 1979 onwards he abandons the manufacturing of instruments altogether. In his Quartet, Manoury surrounds himself with musicians from the warmer parts of the Americas. In 2007, the bandoneonist performed at the New Morning in Paris alongside his fully electric Quartet. His group consists of the Cuban drummer Lukmil Perez, the Brazilian bassist Ruben Santana, and the Brazilian-Irish pianist Leonardo Montana. Jazz, Latin.
