Jamal, a first generation Egyptian-American struggles to balance his personal ambitions of 'making it' in the music business and the responsibilities his immigrant father, Farid, forces upon him. The two are confined in Farid's convenience store located in a New York neighborhood undergoing serious gentrification. The immigrant family is having trouble keeping the lease on the store.
