Beautifully shot and composed, this concert film documents a performance by one of the world's most accomplished cellists, American Lynn Harrell accompanied by the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. The concert is conducted by Matthias Bamert. This concert performed at the Michael Fowler Centre in Wellington in New Zealand in 2003, captures the depth and emotion of a musical classic. The concert was originally shot for partial inclusion in Elgar's Enigma (dist: www.dcdmedia.co.uk). This documentary explored the thesis that Elgar wrote the concerto in memory of a New Zealand soldier killed in WW1, the son of Elgar's first love. Due to popular demand, we have produced the concert in its entirety.
