This broadcast presents bossa nova singer Astrud Gilberto, followed by the Dave Brubeck Quartet, in performance at the third edition of the Paris Jazz Festival. This collaboration with the Newport Jazz Festival was billed as "Newport à Paris" and took place in mid-November 1966. Brazilian vocalist Astrud Gilberto performs with Benny Aronov (piano), Don Payne (double bass), Don McDonald (percussion), and Art Ellefson (saxophone and flute). She sings Água de Beber, Corcovado, The Telephone Song, and The Shadow of Your Smile. The all-American Dave Brubeck Quartet, consisting of Brubeck on piano, Paul Desmond on alto saxophone, Eugene Wright on double bass, and Joe Morello on drums, performs Brubeck's own composition Cultural Exchange, the group's classic hit Take Five, and Billy Strayhorn's Take The "A" Train.
