1889, after stalking the Arizona desert, drifter and hired gun Cole Brandt finds himself in the lawless town of Dead River, which is held in a fearful grip by deadly outlaw, Travis McCain. There he meets the beautiful Cassey May at the local brothel. When McCain threatens Cassey with her life Brandt finds himself alone, facing off against McCain's killers as the stage is set for a bloody showdown.
