During the 1970's the original North American Soccer League ignited the first "soccer boom" in the United States. This entertaining league attracted the world's greatest players; Pele, George Best, Franz Beckenbauer, Gerd Muller, and Giorgio Chinaglia. The NASL laid the foundation for soccer in America, and the formation of Major League Soccer.
