Free spirited Sally Keaton (Sally Forrest) meets and falls in love with a roaming musician named Steve (Leo Penn). After a brief romance, which Steve considered a fling, he leaves for South America. Heartbroken and alone, Sally, pregnant with Steve's child, is soon disgraced and homeless. She meets handicaped former war veteran Drew (Keefe Brasselle), who gives her a job at his gas station and helps her find a place to live. Drew falls for Sally, but she only thinks about Steve. Sally finally decides to give her baby up for adoption, but then months later decides she wants her baby back to raise on her own. Sally begins a long and difficult journey to retrieve custody of her child. A well-crafted story well worth watching.
