In his own thorough, convincing style Dave Hunt points out that although deception in the church is nothing new, it is definitely increasing. It was foretold by Jesus (Matt. 24), and confirmed by Paul (2 Thess.2). He explains that deception is nothing else than doctrines of devils. Although Paul warned about deception which had already entered into the first church, many lies continued to be introduced to the church through the ages; especially through the Greek Emperor Constantine. Dave Hunt explains various lies that have also entered the evangelical protestant church of our day, namely: • Denial of the deity of Christ • Denial that forgiveness comes only through the blood of Jesus Christ • The foundation of theology is not the Word of God but experience • Inner healing • The Alpha Course and • Promise Keepers. Although we should not be surprised by deception we should be on our guard to avoid being side tracked by lying spirits.
