Suetonius wrote that Augustus found Rome a city of brick and left it a city of marble. Augustus claimed to have restored 82 temples in the city. He and his associates left behind a wealth of aqueducts, arenas, theaters, temples, plazas, statues and altars. The ruins of many of these can still be seen in Rome, including the Ara Pacis and Prima Porta Augustus. Lecture 2 of 2 by Dr. W. J. Neidinger.
