The Thunderbolt is a rugged workhorse for the U.S. Air Force in WWII striking down close to 4000 enemy aircraft. As a result Republic Aviation becomes a leader in aircraft manufacturing and design and the career of its chief engineer Alexander Kartveli is ignited.
