Summer of 1991. The Gaspar family, José Luis, Pilar and their two teenage children, Lulu and Rodrigo, are enjoying their long-awaited beach holiday. It’s Lulu’s birthday but after yet another argument with her father, she decides to run away and spend the rest of her birthday with her boyfriend. Determined to stick to their planned activities, José Luis, Pilar and Rodrigo head out to enjoy a pleasant trip on a paddleboat. But soon, this relaxing boat ride turns into a nightmare when a huge thunderstorm descends upon them. They survive, but their nightmare is far from over; in fact, it's only beginning. Once they get back to shore, they discover that they’ve somehow travelled to the year 2022: a crazier future than they could ever have imagined, full of smartphones, selfies and trap music. After their initial shock, they decide to look for Lulu, but they sadly discover that she had died 30 years earlier during a Héroes del Silencio concert, just weeks after their disappearance. Each of them tries to deal with the news as best they can. Rodrigo does his best to become a teenager from the future and finally manages to pull it off, Pilar is determined to do everything she can to make things work for her family, but Jose Luis isn’t ready to accept what has happened and so, with the help of two eccentric fortune tellers, he exhausts all the technology at his disposal in order to return to 1991 and save Lulu.
