Centuries ago, heroic Samurai Rangers waged a war against an army of darkness. Once conquered, they sealed the powers of evil deep away in a shadowy Underworld. The Rangers knew the seal might someday be broken, so for generations they have been training their children in the ancient powers of the Samurai. When the evil lord Xandred finds a way to escape his dark prison by ship on the River of the Underworld, the modern day Samurai Power Rangers are called into action. With the guidance of their Samurai mentor, these young Rangers must not only learn to master the Samurai sword but also their unique powers over the elements of fire, water, sky, forests, and earth. By practicing the mysterious Samurai Symbols of Power and activating the Ancient Samurai Sword Discs they unlock even greater powers than previously thought possible. With teamwork and the aid of their devoted animal Zords, the Rangers are able to harness the amazing energy of the Lion, Dragon, Bear, Ape, and Turtle to fight off this new threat to humanity. But they face a formidable foe. The Evil Lord Xandred has discovered that by increasing pain and suffering in our world, he can fill the Underworld Sanzu River with human tears until it floods the earth. He releases terrible monsters, through a cosmic rift called a 'gap' between our two worlds to help him unleash this new era of misery. Only the brave Samurai Rangers led by the iconic Red Ranger stand between us and destruction. But they will soon be joined by an unexpected sixth Ranger...a golden ray of hope who will help them in their quest to rid our world of evil.
